Piazza Welcomes Wright Into Mets Alumni

Hall of Famer Mike Piazza posted this photo of him with David Wright. The pair met up at the Mets spring training facility earlier this year. It was their first meeting since Wright was forced into retirement due to injury.

While Piazza had a better career, I thought it would be interesting to compare their Mets numbers. First a look a Mike Piazza’s 8 years with the Mets. During which he played in 972 games.

Compare those numbers to David Wright’s 14 years as a Mets player. During which he played in 1585 games.

Piazza clearly had more power. Although Wright was hurt by CitiField’s huge outfield before the fences were brought in. It’s funny how they both have a .296 batting average. What were the odds of that?

Let’s hope that David joins Mike in the Mets Hall of Fame in the not too distant future.
