Former Mets pitcher Johan Santana celebrated his birthday recently. The two-time Cy Young award winner finished his career in 2012 at age 33. Over a 12 year span with Minnesota and then the New York Mets he compiled a 139-78 record. Injuries later in his career derailed what had been a Hall-of-Fame path.
Here are some of his stats from the Mets years. He finished third in Cy Young voting in 2008. Of course, Santana will always be remembered for June 1, 2012, when he threw a no-hitter against the St. Louis Cardinals. So far it’s still the only no-hitter in New York Mets history. Yeah I know, Carlos Beltran’s ball wasn’t actually a foul ball. But that’s what the ump’s call was.
